POSITION: Airport Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY
The Airport Operations Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities related to airside/landside airport operations, ensuring safety, security, and efficient service to passengers and stakeholders. This role supports the Airport Operations Manager and collaborates with airlines, tenants, law enforcement, and other entities to ensure a smooth operation, compliance with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and TSA (Transportation Security Administration) regulations, and prompt responses to emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Supervise and ensures airport operations are in compliance with FAR Part 139 (Certification of Airports), TSA 49 CFR Part 1540/1542 (Airport Security), and other relevant regulations.
- Conducts Part 139 inspections with FAA and maintains Part 139 records.
- Supervise day-to-day airport operations, including airside, landside, and terminal activities.
- Conduct regular inspections of runways, taxiways, terminals, and other facilities identifying, preventing, responding to and/or removing all hazards including FOD, wildlife, Security Identification Display Area (SIDA)/Air Operations Area (AOA) incursions, unauthorized vehicles and pedestrian entry, and disabled aircraft.
- Identifies and anticipates operational and safety concerns by monitoring the inspection process for all areas of the airport, including airside, landside, and terminal facilities.
- Maintains satisfactory compliance conditions of the airside, landside, and terminal facilities by creating work orders and following up on repairs, corrections, and modifications.
- Work with airlines, tenants, vendors, and other airport stakeholders to address operational needs and improve customer service.
- Address and resolve passenger concerns and assist with public relations issues.
- Maintains a record of all aeronautical areas including pavement, markings, lighting, safety areas, wildlife, construction, emergency equipment and fueling practices.
- Conducts AOA Driver’s training and operations training.
- Schedule, train, and supervise airport operations staff ensuring a high level of productivity and compliance.
- Documents and/or reviews daily airfield events through daily logs, self-inspection reports, and incident/information reports.
- Works with the Safety and Compliance Manager to monitor deviations from federal, local, and airport operating standards and regulations and promptly initiates corrections of discrepancies. Issues NOTAMS as required.
- Work closely with Maintenance Supervisor to attend scheduling and coordination of maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption to airport operations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of operational projects, including construction and maintenance work.
- Maintain working knowledge of all applicable FAR’s and Advisory Circulars.
- Oversee the allocation of equipment and supplies for operational needs.
- Performs weather observations as required.
- Assumes operational, safety, and security responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Manager.
- Covers the Airport Operations Agent schedule as needed.
- Carries out responsibilities identified in the Airport Certification Manual and Airport Emergency Plan.
- Will be assigned as a member of the Emergency Response Team to support critical priorities during disasters or other emergencies.
- Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards to include emergency calls and accommodate FAA Certification Inspections.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Airport/Aviation Management or a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of airport operations experience.
- Two years of supervisory/lead experience or demonstrated leadership experiences.
- Demonstrated experience in Part 139 airport operations/maintenance.
- AAAE C.M. or A.C.E. preferred or ability to obtain designations within one year of employment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple and complex, technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers (internal and external), customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Driver’s License as a condition of employment.

- 30% of work is performed in a typical office environment and 70% of work is performed outdoors or within the terminal in all weather conditions and involves moving throughout the facility and community.
- Must carry airport cell phone and be on-call in rotation with other staff.

- Lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds on occasion.
- Job will expose employee to noise from equipment on occasion.
