Position Title: Environment, Health & Safety Director

a. Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the CEO and leading a team of professionals, the Environment, Health, & Safety (EHS) Director will act on behalf of SkyCity to develop and lead the environmental and safety strategy including policy, audits, as well as ensuring compliance with organization risk management policies and procedures. The Director will be accountable for all environment, health and safety related matters and ensuring the overall safety of the extended workplace. The EHS Director directs, manages and oversees the EHS programs for SkyCity while ensuring all relevant legal, corporate, and project agreement requirements are met. This scope includes safe practices for all subcontractors and construction related compliance obligations.

b. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees the environmental, health and safety team.
  • Develops programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientation, skills training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
  • Creates an engaged safety culture focusing on Safety First while delivering measurable results.
  • Oversees the the EMS and legal compliance.
  • Manages safety training compliance, development of new training programs and compliance assessments for all safety training.
  • Leads the communication efforts for SkyCity’s Environmental Health & Safety programs and
  • Develops of a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents to generate required reporting.
  • Implements initiatives to reduce and prevent environmental and safety accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
  • Oversees EHS projects and advises on development and implementation of contractor manuals.
  • Conducts periodic audits and inspections of SkyCity facilities, airport tenant facilities and the terminal construction site.
  • Oversees safety records and a database related to training, audits, inspections, action plans, reports, monitoring results and compliance.
  • Assists with Emergency Planning and Response safety process.
  • Interacts with and reports to regulatory agencies regarding incidents, emergencies, permitting, approvals and compliance issues, as well as the maintains these permits and approvals.
  • Conducts incident investigations in accordance with SkyCity policy and local regulations.
  • Ensures that the Project is in full compliance with government and Lenders regulations and obligations.
  • Provides guidance to Senior Management regarding advancements related to environmental and safety issues and best practices.
  • Develops EHS leadership capacity and capability in the SkyCity operations team.

c. Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manages the Environmental, Health and Safety .

d. Fiscal Responsibility

  • Develops and manages an annual budget for the development of departmental .
  • Leads and manages the Environmental Monitoring Program which could include ambient air quality, marine water, groundwater, stationary sources and portable water systems/tanks, among others.

e. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience, with at least 7 years of senior management experience is required, including development, coordination, and execution of enterprise level programs, with specialty in more than one area of environment, health and safety, preferably in the aviation industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in
  • Experience developing and executing Corporate Social Responsibility programs and initiatives in respect to EHS programs
  • Proficient use with Safety Management System and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
