POSITION: Facilities Lead – General & Grounds Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager and Senior Facilities Supervisor

SUMMARY
The Facilities Lead – General & Grounds Maintenance is responsible for overseeing, maintaining and repairing all airport infrastructure including general maintenance of all components including architectural, structural, civil, pavement, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and mechanical, as well as, the grounds infrastructure and fleet of the airport support vehicles and equipment. This role requires a hands-on approach, actively participating in general maintenance tasks while also leading a team of General Maintenance Technicians, Heavy Equipment Operators and Mechanics. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, efficient and continuous operation of all infrastructure in compliance with local and federal laws, rules and regulations, industry standards and operational requirements. This position will be working under the direct supervision of the Assistant Facilities Manager. The Facilities Lead – General & Grounds Maintenance will collaborate with other departments to support smooth airport operations and respond to any maintenance related emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Leads technical maintenance personnel;
• Performs technical assessments of airport facilities and/or equipment;
• Performs inspections of facilities and/or equipment to be repaired or requiring maintenance and make estimates of the cost of labor and materials required.
• Investigate and solve maintenance or construction problems arising in assigned jobs;
• Assists in the troubleshooting of complex equipment and system failures;
• Cooperate with outside contractors and firms on assigned projects;
• Ensure compliance of safety protocols;
• Familiarize new employees with maintenance operations and procedures;
• Keep up to date documentation of maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS);
• Oversees and performs installation, maintenance and repairs of airport infrastructure related to architectural, structural, civil, pavement, carpentry and painting.
• Oversees and reviews instrumentation and general maintenance work performed by outside contractors and tenants.
• Oversees and performs in the maintenance of the grounds infrastructure including duties such as cleaning of drainage, mowing, trimming, clearing vegetation, etc.
• Assists in the installation, maintenance and repairs of different types of airport facilities including airfield, building/structures and landside and its respective electrical, mechanical and specialized equipment.
• Oversee the maintenance of the airport fleet including trucks, vehicles and equipment.
ACTIVITIES SUPERVISED
• Installation, maintenance and repair tasks of general systems and components as part of airport facilities.
• Maintaining in good operating condition all machinery, power units, automotive equipment, buildings, grounds and other structures.
• Enforcement of safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment of construction and general maintenance and grounds maintenance trade;
• Basic knowledge of other systems from the electrical and mechanical trades;
• Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation;
• Basic knowledge of fleet maintenance;
• Ability to plan, organize, assign and inspect the work of subordinate personnel;
• Ability to read and draw blue prints, mechanical schematics and diagrams;
• Ability to use complex test equipment in troubleshooting and repairing electrical/mechanical equipment;
• Knowledge of safety requirements;
• Knowledge of codes, laws, rules, regulations and standards including FAA Advisory Circulars and Part 139 Requirements.
• Ability to work in confined spaces;
• Ability to work long hours standing and do manual work;
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, sit, stoop, climb and crawl;
• Computer literate with the ability to use departmental software and programs;
• Ability to use the time and attendance system to approve payroll and time off requests;
• Ability to enter invoices/ purchase orders for processing;
• Ability to handle personnel matters, supervise staff, manage and communicate effectively;
• Ability to work overtime and be available for after-hours call-ins;
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Completion of high school degree or GED equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience in general facilities maintenance in an airport or industrial facility.
• Two (2) years of experience in a lead/supervisory capacity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple and complex, technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers (internal and external), customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
