POSITION: General Maintenance Agent
REPORTS TO: Facilities Supervisor

SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Agent is responsible for performing routine, semi-skilled manual labor maintenance and repairs throughout airport facilities including buildings, runways, taxiways, aprons, buildings, parking and roadways. This role involves tasks ranging from minor electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs to general upkeep of airport infrastructure. The position requires a broad knowledge of maintenance procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Performs a variety of small repairs involving a combination of skills in carpentry, painting, and masonry trades. Work includes repairing window frames, walls, ceilings, cabinets, tables, benches, counters, and other wooden equipment.
• Perform construction, repair and maintenance of civil and architectural elements of buildings and structures.
• Assist electricians in the inspection, installation, repair and maintenance of lighting and electrical systems.
• Assist plumber in the inspection, installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems.
• Assist the mechanical / HVAC staff in the inspection, installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Perform inspection, repair and maintenance of pavements.
• Assist with set-up and takedown for airport events, including arranging furniture, installing temporary signage, and other logistical needs.
• Other related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Knowledge of carpentry and MEP areas.
• Knowledge of function and operation of commercial and industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of airport and trade safety requirements.
• Preferred knowledge of FAA airfield regulations and advisory circulars.
• Knowledge of materials and tools used in the maintenance and repair of civil, structures and architectural elements.
• Knowledge of facilities maintenance industry standards.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints and O&M manuals.
• Ability to make time material and cost estimates of small installations and repair jobs
• Ability to create reports of work performed and other related documents and do work related paperwork
• Ability to work long hours standing and do manual work.
• Good health and physical agility sufficient to climb poles, ladders, etc.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and all other persons contacted while the work
• Able to work overtime and be available for after-hours call-ins or emergencies.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• 2 to 3 years training or apprentice work in the maintenance trade and experience as a maintenance journeyman (handyman).
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple and complex, technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers (internal and external), customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend standard units of measurement and ability to perform simple arithmetic.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Drivers’ License as a condition of employment.
