Summary
The IT Supervisor is responsible for managing and maintaining all IT systems and services at the airport, ensuring that critical technology components are functioning optimally. This includes overseeing airport-specific systems such as flight information displays, communications, CUSS, innovation projects and passenger service applications. The IT Supervisor will work closely with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure system efficiency, reliability, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely response to technical issues.
At the direction of the Deputy COO:
- Manages and sets the vision of the IT department, which is comprised of the Applications, Infrastructure, Information Security and Technical staff
- Participates in the development of and is responsible for the administration of the Airport’s technology policies and procedures
- Directs IT operations to adhere to the airport’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives
- Coordinate IT policies, rules and regulations imparted by the IT Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the airport’s IT infrastructure including servers, networks, telecommunications, Wi-Fi, public address systems, communications room, and data storage systems.
- Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and best practices.
- Oversee and monitor the performance of mission-critical systems.
- Ensure that all IT systems and processes comply with relevant airport industry standards, regulations and best practices.
- Plans and directs the research analysis, development and implementation of appropriate system development strategies and technologies to meet short-term and long-range airport/authority needs.
- Coordinates, plans and implements requirements to meet DHS, FAA, TSA and relevant industry mandates, as well as best practices, where applicable.
- Directs the development, implementation and evaluation of test plans and administers testing for quality assurance of new systems’ functionally (e.g., hardware and software).
- Provide technical support to airport staff, airlines, passengers, and partners.
- Ensure that IT systems contribute to a positive passenger experience.
- Coordinate with external vendors for the procurement, installation, and maintenance of IT equipment.
- Liaise with airport operations, airlines, security, and government agencies to ensure IT systems meet their needs.
- Implement routine maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and disruptions that ensures all technology systems are functioning efficiently supporting 24/7 airport operations.
- Study the latest cybersecurity trends and keep up to date with the latest developments.
- Monitor internal and external policy compliance.
- Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect airport systems from data breaches, malware, and other cyber threats.
- Work closely with federal and local agencies to adhere to cybersecurity protocols.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols to protect the airport’s IT systems.
- Monitor for potential threats and respond quickly to any security breaches or incidents.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and emergency plans for IT systems to ensure business continuity in the event of a crisis.
- Test and update recovery plans regularly.
- Ensure the IT team is available to respond to technical issues and provide support for airport staff, airlines, passengers and partners.
- Develop the IT budget in coordination with business unit partners and the agency budget/finance office.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
- Drive innovation by identifying new technologies that can improve airport efficiency and passenger experience.
- Manage a team of IT support staff, providing leadership, training, and guidance.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of airport systems.
- Leadership experience managing IT teams and vendors.
- Project management skills with experience managing medium to large-scale IT projects.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Knowledge of U.S. and international airport technology trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal departments, external agencies, and vendors.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Preferred Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or Airport Operations or 10 years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in IT management, ideally in the aviation, airport, or transportation industry.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal regulations related to airport operations such as FAA, TSA, and DHS guidelines.
- Preferred experience with cloud infrastructure and data analytics in the aviation sector.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple and complex, technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers (internal and external), customers and the general public
Mathmatical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
