SUMMARY

The IT Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining IT systems, networks, hardware, and software across airport facilities. This includes ensuring the seamless operation of all technological systems required for both internal and customer-facing processes, such as security systems, flight information displays, and communications. The role requires technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to interact with various airport stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical support for airport IT infrastructure including networks, servers, workstations, printers, and wireless access points.

• Regularly perform maintenance on software and hardware systems to ensure all systems are operational and up to date.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by airport staff and management ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations.

• Respond to help desk tickets and IT support requests in a timely manner and maintain a record of all issues and resolutions.

• Ensure correct setup and operation of systems integral to airport functions.

• Collaborate with airport staff, vendors, and IT teams to support and enhance IT infrastructure and address ongoing technological needs.

• Assist in training staff in basic troubleshooting and usage of new or upgraded technology systems.

• Maintain accurate records of equipment, system configurations, and maintenance activities.

• Support cybersecurity measures to protect the airport’s information systems from unauthorized access and threats.

• Install and test data and voice cabling.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong understanding of computer networks, operating systems and systems integrations.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues effectively.
• High interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and support.
• Precision in performing maintenance and documenting activities.
• Ability to understand and interpret technical material and instructions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1-3 years of IT support or related experience, preferably in an operational environment.
• CompTIA A+ certification, technical network certifications or other relevant IT certifications are a plus.
• Any background in aviation or airport operations is preferred and familiarity with airport-specific systems is beneficial.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple and complex, technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers (internal and external), customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
