Position Title: Public Relations & Communications Manager

a. Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Public Relations & Communications Manager is responsible for supporting marketing activities of the airport. This post is responsible for the promotion of airport services, facilities, events, and programs, and for coordinating with airport management and external public relations professionals, the dissemination of information regarding the airport and the redevelopment activity to the news media, airlines, and the general public. Work involves the development of marketing materials and initiatives to enhance the airport’s image and provide a high level of customer service to the public.

b. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Support for planning and implementation of marketing initiatives and materials related to internal and external communications of the airport redevelopment project, including commercial retail and air service development activities.
  • Serving as the airport’s primary resource for receiving and responding to general queries concerning the airport and various airport redevelopment activities, including planned upgrades to the existing passenger terminal and construction of the new passenger terminal.
  • Communication with airport managers to obtain information necessary to appropriately respond to media inquiries.
  • Contact with media representatives to promote upcoming airport activities and events and to arrange for media coverage of such events; drafting of print and electronic media press releases and announcements for television and radio regarding airport activities.
  • Monitoring and control of the accuracy of all communication to the media through website, radio, billboard, social networking and print media.
  • Day to day monitoring and support for administration and content of the airport website.
  • Support for design and production of marketing presentations and collateral materials used to communicate with communities, airport users and key stakeholders, including airlines, hoteliers, and international business.
  • Provision of communication support for a comprehensive airport service quality program intended to increase passenger satisfaction and improve perception of the airport.
  • Support for coordination of events and promotions at the airport, including the arts and cultural exhibition programs.
  • Additionally, coordination of airport tours  for school

c. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • A communications professional with 7-10 years’ experience working in an internal communications environment, reflecting a demonstrable knowledge in the formulation and implementation of stakeholder
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program at an accredited college or university with course work in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or a related area
  • The principles and practices of journalism, public relations and marketing
  • The methods and techniques of disseminating information and promotional material to the public and to all types of media
  • English language usage, grammar, rhetoric, punctuation, and spelling
  • Public relations principles and practices
  • Print and electronic media available for the dissemination of information
  • Knowledge of marketing through social media
  • Airport information, passenger assistance, communication and hospitality services
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency in technical, oral, written, interpersonal communication
  • Prioritization and organization of differing projects with competing deadlines
  • Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy
  • Experience writing in a public relations or news media position assessing the key messages of a project or issue and effectively relating them or preparing informational or promotional material for popular release
  • Ability to travel to represent the airport and/or provide support for the Commercial Director
